Summer is here, and I have been incredibly busy. I have been doing plenty of work outside. When doing work, I like to have a soundtrack. Lucky for me LIG Group sent us their latest bluetooth speaker to accompany me. Unfortunately, the speaker isn’t all that good.
This is certainly a bargain bin bluetooth speaker, and the quality shows. The unit itself is very lightweight. This is most likely due to the cheaper materials used to make it. Since starting Bluetooth Madness, I’ve reviewed a wide range of bluetooth speakers and headsets. This one is easily at the back of the pack.
While the speaker was able to pair to both an Android phone as well as my iPhone fairly easy, the actual sound quality isn’t the best. For $20, you can’t expect much either. When you first turn on the speaker you are greeted by Foreign woman telling you the device is on. Once it’s paired up, she reads from her script; telling you so. It’s such a funny thing to hear. I’ve made a little game out of it, trying to figure out where she might be from. That’s when my brain begins to wander, imagining what that recording session was like. That woman sitting in a sound booth, recording her two lines of dialogue.
Back on track; once paired up, you can easily change tracks and adjust the volume with either your phone or the speakers. Unfortunately, the speaker do not get as loud as other bluetooth speakers, nor do they sound as good. The battery life isn’t all that good either. It’s rated at 4 to 6 hours. I think it’s definitely on the shorter end of the scale if you listen at a decent level. Directly out of the box, I don’t think I got 30 minutes.
Is this speaker the worst? No. But it doesn’t come close to some of the other speakers out there. If you are looking for something that won’t break the bank and you want something to bring to the beach without the fear of it breaking or getting stolen, this may be a good option.
If you want to pick up one for yourself, you can order it directly from Amazon.
