Meterteck – The Multimeter for Everyone

In other news, we bought a house! Yeah, it’s a post we never got around to making, but we did. Once we got moved in and started settling in, we started doing to rewiring and installing some new light fixtures around the house.  Unfortunately, the multimeter I had just wasn’t cutting it. In fact, it didn’t really work at all. Luckily Meterteck was there to the rescue.

The Meterteck Multimeter is for everyone. It says it’s for professionals, but thanks to the included free e-book you can download, anyone can learn how to use their multimeter properly and effectively.

Don’t worry, there is a decimal there (120.1)

The actual unit is made with a fairly lightweight plastic. While it is by no means made with a heavy duty material, it doesn’t feel too cheap. However without having a nice hard plastic, or a rubber coating, a few too many drops from high up could leave you with a broken device. One thing that does set this multimeter apart from some of the other ones I’ve used in the past is its large LCD backlit screen. The backlight is very bright, while the contrast of the LCD numbers make it very easy to read. In addition to the multimeter, you also get 2 pairs of cables. I guess this is good if one gets worn out or broken over the year, but I wish the prongs on one of the sets was longer than the other, just in case you needed that extra length to get into those tighter spots. Instead, you get two pairs of the same cables; each with only a half inch prong on the end. It’s not bad to have two sets, but two different ones would have made a lot more sense. If you are doing some electronic work at a work bench or table the multimeter also has a built in stand, angling the multimeter for easy reading while doing your work.

The Meterteck multimeter has a wide range of uses. It allows you to test AC and DC Voltage, Resistance, as well as continuity to test if there are any breaks in your lines. And if you aren’t sure how to use a multimeter, Meterteck has got your back.

This is perfect to help explain how to use a multimeter and the various uses it has. However, before writing this review, I tried to download the e-book by following the instructions on the card and I have yet to receive my copy in my e-mail inbox. That being said, I was able to find a free download of the 80 page book here.

For less than $20, I would say the Meterteck multimeter is a decent buy for various tasks around the house. If you go with less expensive alternatives, keep in mind you might be getting what you pay for. And I think that was exactly the case with my previous device. On the other hand, if you are a professional and work with electric on a daily basis, you may want to get something more expensive, that can stand up to heavy duty usage. If you want to pick one of these up yourself, you can get it from Amazon here.

We received this item for free or at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
